How the mighty have fallen

This was a horrible year for Mexico's national team. The once #10 ranked team in the world will finish this year in the top 30 if they are lucky. Once named the fastest developing national soccer team has fallen. I have been following Mexico's team since I was little, but now it seems they have no real urge to become one of the top team's in the world. I was shocked that Jamaica didn't take Mexico's place in the fight to go to the World Cup. The players that Mexico has right now have been named as the golden group that will change the history for the national team. I guess that the stress is making them play like this, but they have to get over it to help Mexico get to the spot they should be at.

The King of the Court

This is the legend Roger Federer. Only one person is above him in the world rankings and that one person is his rival the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Federer was the number 1 ranked tennis player for 237 consecutive weeks, which is the record for a single player to hold that rank. Many players around the world say that Roger Federer is the best player in the history of tennis. He has had a rivalry with Nadal since 2005 and have met each other in 6 Grand Slam Finals.

La Liguilla

The playoffs in the Mexican soccer league is about to start, so far three teams of eight are in. Those teams are Pumas, Atlante, and San Luis. Pumas is the only team in the group of death that has qualified. As of now any team in this group can qualify with one game left in the season. Two more teams can qualify from this group, but atleast one of Mexico's greatest teams will not make it. The great teams that I am talking about are Cruz Azul, America, and Chivas. These three teams have an important role in the progress the league and the mexican national team have had.

CONCACAF Eliminations

The eliminations for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa have been going on for awhile now. In the CONCACAF (North and Central America Soccer Federation) their is already a favorite to qualify to the World Cup and thats the United States. So far the U.S. hasn't lost any of their games, but in soccer that doesn't mean much because you can be playing good for many of your games and then out of nowhere you have trouble beating teams that shouldn't trouble you a lot. For example, Brazil has always been a team to go to the World Cup without a doubt, but now it looks like they won't make it to South Africa. They have a team filled with talent, but they don't have a coach to organize the players. Mexico started out looking like a strong solid team, but out of their home they look like a completely different team. I am one of the biggest Mexico fan, but it looks like they might not make it and that would impact the CONCACAF a lot because Mexico is one of the biggest team in the whole world (even though they haven't won a world cup). The biggest news is that finally a great team has awoken from their sleep and that team is El Salvador. I have been checking up on Salvadors' team and they have a solid team that will take them to the world cup, but we will have to see if they can handle the pressure in that giant stage we like to call the World Cup. U.S., Mexico, and El Salvador are the teams I hope will show that the CONCACAF division is ready to show that CONMEBOL (South American Soccer Federation) isn't the only dangerous Federation in the Americas.
